myDevelopment is an intuitive, cloud-based Learning Management System (a product of our technology partner, Cornerstone; a leading learning management solution specialist). myDevelopment will replace GRAMS to support graduate research students to manage the compulsory modules and professional development activities as part of their graduate research program.
In myDevelopment, graduate research students will be able to:
- browse for professional development activities as part of their program - register, deregister or join a waitlist for an activity - view activities they are registered for and those completed - generate a training record of completed activities to present to their milestone review panel, supervisors or future employers
You can search for professional development activities by simply selecting "Browse for Learning".
If you are looking for something specific, you can enter keywords into the search bar (top right of widow).
You can also browse the catalogue of activities by topic. By clicking on 'Graduate Education' under Topic, subtopics will appear and can be expanded further clicking on the topic of interest. All the activities in that subtopic will be viewable on the right side of the page.
By selecting a training activity you can see the training details and any upcoming sessions. You can register, or join a waitlist.
myDevelopment allows you to search, view and register for professional development activities as part of your graduate research program in three easy steps.
From the myDevelopment homepage, click the "Browse for Learning" button to view the training options. Then, click a training option to view the description and display the sessions. Finally, click "Request" next to the session you would like to register and add the training to your training record.
If a session is full, you can add yourself to the waitlist. Simply select "Request" against the session details. For sessions with a cap on attendance, there is an automated waitlist. You will receive a notification by email if a place becomes available for you. In the meantime, check the availability of other sessions scheduled in myDevelopment.
There are several ways. By selecting "View my training record" from the myDevelopment home page, you can view all your active and upcoming training in one easy place. You can also use the calendar in myDevelopment to toggle between all available training events and those you have registered or waitlisted for, as well as switching between calendar views.
You can register to take any training activity that is visibile to you in the myDevelopment 'Browse for Learning' catalogue. Activities available to you may be offered by Monash Graduate Research or our faculties/institutes/centres. There may be limited places available to you for training activities offered by faculties/institutes/centres.
Yes. All enrolled graduate research students will have access to myDevelopment to search and register for all available professional development activities. This includes professional development training activities advertised in myDevelopment that is run within their local faculty/institute or program.
Access to myDevelopment for an encumbered student would be similar to that for other Monash systems. For example, if the level of your encumbrance renders you unable to access the intranet, then you will be unable to access myDevelopment.
No. Only those with administrator access to myDevelopment can assign training courses to graduate research students to undertake. If the graduate research student happens to be a staff member, their manager can assign them a training course to undertake in their capacity as a staff member. Please note that 'graduate research student supervisor' and 'staff manager' are different roles.
Simply hover over/select reports the the myDevelopment taskbar, then select "Custom report". Select "Refresh" from the "Actions" tab, then download an excel spreadsheet by selecting "Excel" from the dropdown list.
You can also access the "Dashboards" under "Reports" to get a quick view.
These reports can be presented to your supervisors or candidature milestone review panel.
Your main supervisor and lead associate supervisor at Monash will be able to access and view your training record via their myDevelopment account. Your supervisors will be able to see the training you are registered or waitlisted for and the training you have completed.
External supervisors who are not Monash staff will not have access to myDevelopment.
Access to myDevelopment will be enabled for supervisors in the coming months, when myDevelopment is released by Monash HR for academic and professional staff at Monash University.
If you have recently completed the training activity, it may take several days for the completion to be recorded in your myDevelopment training record. Please check back in on your training record at a later point in time.
If after two weeks your record has not been updated, please provide the following details to us and we'll investigate further: Your name, Monash ID, name of training event/session, date of completion.

Yes. eSolutions will facilitate the upload of data from GRAMS into myDevelopment. This will include bringing across all content relevant to training events, sessions and other recorded training activities. It also includes the upload of your training activity and a record of completed training hours from GRAMS into myDevelopment.
myDevelopment (a Cornerstone learning management system) utilises the latest encryption for authentication, inline and compatible with Monash University's identity management system (Authcate) in terms of a secure entry point to the application.
Cornerstone is a cloud provider with data centres based in the UK engaging leading third party information security companies to run tests to comply with industry recognised security standards.
Monash University will ensure that all staff and student data is safe and encrypted during transport from university systems to myDevelopment, as is the case with other service providers that Monash University engages.
myDevelopment is relatively self-explanatory and easy to navigate. Yes. As a professional staff member located in a Faculty/School/Institute or at the Monash University Malaysia (MUM) campus who has an administrator role in myDevelopment, you will be best supported in your learning through a combination of instructor-led training, access to Quick Reference Guides and support from the myDevelopment online help resource.
