Chapter 2: Admission to research master’s enrolment

2.7 Research-related employment which overlaps enrolment

Research associated with  the thesis should normally be completely separate from any work undertaken as  part of part-time or full-time employment. It is acknowledged, however, that  separating paid work undertaken for a group or collaborative project which may  contribute, even indirectly, to a student's own work for the research master’s  degree may be very difficult.

Any prospective student whose paid work and  research for the thesis may overlap is required to meet certain conditions when  applying for enrolment. These requirements are set out in Appendix B in this Handbook. See also Chapter 11 for links to forms for a declaration where  research undertaken in relation to employment overlaps with enrolment.
