Professor Karen Adams
Professor Karen Adams is Wiradjuri and the Director of the Indigenous Unit in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Karen has a nursing background and worked in areas of aged care, communicable diseases and managing Aboriginal health services. She has a Masters in Applied Epidemiology and her PhD focussed on social network analysis and child health. As an educator she has developed curriculum for multiple health disciplines and provided professional development for educators. Her research has largely focussed on equity and she has an interest in adaptable health workforces that can respond to needs of Indigenous peoples and believes having equitable representation of Indigenous peoples in the health professions is critical to this.
