National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
At the heart of reconciliation this year is the relationship between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. To foster positive race relations, our relationship must be grounded in a foundation of truth.
Australians are ready to come to terms with our history as a crucial step towards a unified future, in which we understand, value and respect each other.
We encourage all Monash campuses, Faculties & Divisions to embrace National Reconciliation Week and consider hosting events or activities that promote Monash as a key champion of Reconciliation.
You can get involved by coordinating a Welcome to Country, displaying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, hosting a morning tea or relevant TED Talk screening, and promoting National Reconciliation Week on social media.
The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous), Strategy and Engagement Team will be coordinating the calendar of events and can be contacted on email@example.com or 03 9905 9034 for advice and inclusion.
