Student Spotlight: Nathan Drummond

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Nathan Drummond and I’m a proud Yorta Yorta man from Shepparton. I am a mature aged student who started studying in semester 2, 2019. Prior to studying I was fortunate enough to play for Richmond FC for four years. One of my passions is playing football and I currently play at Footscray in the VFL competition. My reason for taking up studying is to acquire more skills for my future career. Whilst I am studying, I also have a casual job working in a clothing warehouse 2-3 days a week to help support myself while studying.

What did you study at Monash?

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Business, Majoring in both Banking and Finance and Accounting.

Can you think of a highlight to studying at Monash?

The highlight of studying at Monash University is the opportunities that are on offer to network and learn. I’ve found getting back into studying a great challenge personally and has allowed me to explore new interests in my life.

Do you have any advice for current students?

My advice to students would be to take the opportunities that are presented to you because you never know where that may take you. I think it is also important to make use of the tutoring services to develop greater understanding of your course. I have found this to be of assistance so far in my degree and have enjoyed getting to know my tutors.
