JAKARTA, 3 MARCH 2022 – Traveloka and Monash University, Indonesia, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) on Human Capital Empowerment and Innovation for Technology Ecosystem today that will offer capacity building academic training for university professionals. The MOU was signed by Ellen Tuwaidan, Head of People Operations, Traveloka, at a ceremony held at the Embassy of Australia in Jakarta, and graced by the presence of the Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, Asean Eng., Plt. Director General of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. It was hosted by the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams.
Leveraging on the strengths of Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s lifestyle superapp with over 40 million active users, across more than 20 product categories, ranging from transportation, accommodation, lifestyle services, and financial services, as well as Monash University, Indonesia, the first foreign university established in Indonesia, operating with the support of both the Indonesia and Australian governments, the MOU seeks to support, among other things, the Indonesian government’s goal of reaching nine million digital talents by 2035, through a one-year collaborative academic partnership.
Specifically, under the MOU, the two organizations will look to collaborate by:
- Supporting the Indonesian government’s goal in reaching nine million digital talents by 2035
- Contributing to the creation of an exceptional talent pool in Indonesia in the Digital Technology domain, to meet industry’s needs
- Upskilling the university’s academics with real business use cases from the industry and encourage bridging of academic preparation with industry expectations, as well as to address the technology industry’s talent and skills needed to stay relevant in the fast-changing technology sector

This MOU also solidifies the existing relationship between Traveloka and Monash University, Indonesia in the areas of upskilling, networking, and training initiatives.
