Haniyo, Nurkholis, and Aufa presented the lessons from their experiences in supporting learning and teaching at Monash University, Indonesia
Malaysia – On 26 November 2025, the PJ Hilton Hotel in Selangor became a vibrant meeting point for over 150 educators, education leaders, and industry professionals from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia. They gathered for TransformED 2025, the annual learning and teaching conference initiated by Monash University, Malaysia (MUM) in collaboration with Monash University, Indonesia (MI). The event once again affirmed Monash’s growing role as a regional hub for educational innovation across the Indo-Pacific.
Designed as a platform for sharing evidence-based practices and practical innovations in higher education, TransformED 2025 explored how pedagogy, technology, and leadership can work together to support student success. The conference featured an engaging mix of masterclasses, presentations, workshops, and poster sessions. Across these formats, participants examined timely themes such as career readiness and employability, inclusive learning environments, AI-integrated assessment and curriculum design, and authentic, future-focused learning. These conversations sparked thoughtful reflection on how higher education institutions can respond to evolving student needs with purpose and agility.
“One of our goals with TransformED is to bring together great educators and education professionals from the Indo-Pacific region, because we recognise the importance of diversity in ideas and perspectives,” said Prof. Stephen Boyle, Vice President (Education), Monash University, Malaysia, in his opening remarks. His message set the tone for a conference grounded in collaboration, openness, and shared learning.
Building on its contribution to previous TransformED conferences, the Learning and Teaching Operations (LTO) team from Monash University, Indonesia, led by Anddy Steven, Senior Manager of LTO, played a key role in supporting TransformED 2025. The team contributed not only as organisers but also as presenters, sharing insights from their work in supporting teaching and learning at Monash University, Indonesia.
Haniyo Sakyamuni, Digital Learning Content Developer, shared his experience collaborating with academics to design digital learning materials that enhance student engagement, from accessible, bite-sized weekly videos to interactive H5P books. Nurkholis Ainunnajib, Educational Designer, reflected on building a community of practice where academics co-create knowledge by sharing effective teaching practices in areas identified for improvement through student feedback. Fauzul Aufa, Learning Adviser, presented findings from his study on the optimal use of Studiosity and learning adviser consultations to deliver integrated academic support. Following each presentation, academic and professional staff engaged in rich discussions with the speakers, highlighting the value of cross-disciplinary exchange. The session was further enriched by Rosa Karnita, Best Speaker of EduVate 2025, who shared her approach to implementing inclusive teaching practices.
Having served as a co-organiser of TransformED for three consecutive years, Monash University, Indonesia’s growing contribution was formally recognised by Tridib Saha, Director of the Education and Training Academy, Monash University, Malaysia. He noted that beyond individual presentations, the MI LTO team played a vital role throughout the planning and facilitation of the conference, including strengthening engagement with Indonesian higher education institutions and leading parallel breakout sessions. He expressed optimism for continued collaboration in positioning Monash as a regional leader in innovative teaching and learning.
