"Don't save yourself into trouble"

Increased operational demands are being placed on railroads. These demands come with financial constraints, Dr Robert Fröhling, principal engineer in the technology management department of South Africa's Transnet Freight Rail, tells an audience at the annual Stephan Marich lecture hosted by Institute of Railway Technology in Melbourne.  He explains that whilst the approach is usually to "do this, but don't let it cost too much" he advises not to "save yourself into trouble".
