Peer Mentor Program

The Peer Mentor Program is designed to help new students transition into university life and give current students the opportunity to participate in a mentoring program. Mentors build important leadership and communication skills that are vital to career success.

When you join Orientation week you will be automatically allocated a Peer Mentor.

Eligibility requirements

  • All undergraduate industry-based learning students are automatically eligible to become peer mentors, and may therefore be assigned new students to mentor
  • Good academic standing, including a WAM of 65+
  • Undergraduate - Completed at least 1 year of study (or equivalent credit points)
  • Postgraduate – Completed at least 1 semester of study
  • Must be a current enrolled student at Monash Information Technology
  • Must be able to attend key training and orientation dates

What’s expected?

  • Attend group training session held before Orientation-week
  • Participate in and run program activities on Orientation Days
  • Maintain regular contact with your mentees:
    • Undergraduate - during your mentee's first year of study
    • Postgraduate - during your mentee's first semester of study
  • Actively assist mentees as they start university
  • Actively promote and attend program social events
