AskPCOS app extension development
The Humanise Lab is currently working on an exciting R&D project aimed at designing and implementing a human-centric extension for the AskPCOS ehealth app that was developed by the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI) and co-designed by women with PCOS.
The AskPCOS app is an evidence-based information hub for the condition of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and was developed for girls and women who have been diagnosed with the condition, as well as those who think they may have PCOS.
The objective of our project is to create a personalised and engaging extension that supports women in setting lifestyle goals that are essential for managing the condition, and monitoring their progress.
We employ the Double Diamond human-centred design process to ensure human-centric aspects are discovered and considered during the design, implementation and testing of our app extension. The project is also used for a meta-study to help us collect data about how human-centric aspects are communicated and translated into software features.
Our team comprises software engineering students from the Faculty of IT, as well as Master of Design students from the Monash Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (MADA) lead by Jeffrey Janet. The project lead is Dr Ingo Mueller.
