Visas

Students are responsible for obtaining the right visa. Please check with the Malaysian embassy of your home country.
Visa advice for Australian students
Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs has provided the following visa advice to Australian High Commission in Malaysia for Australian students visiting Malaysia:
If you wish to undertake mobility, exchange or workplace learning (paid or unpaid) for under 3 months, you will require Social Visit Pass (SVP) to enter Malaysia. SVP for Australian is 3 months. Examples of this type of activity include summer programs or other short courses, study tours, project based study visits, volunteering (e.g. with non-government organisation), short-term research projects, or workplace learning with a Malaysia or international business. SVPs are issued on arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Register your trip

It is our suggestion that students travelling to Malaysia register with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade before travel.  The registration information provided by you will help find you in an emergency - whether it is a natural disaster, civil disturbance or a family emergency.

Travel insurance

All students must obtain travel insurance when travelling overseas to Malaysia.

Monash Law students are eligible for free travel insurance through Monash University.  Once your Monash Abroad International Study Program application form (ISP Application) has been processed, you will receive your insurance details from Monash Abroad.  This form will be sent to you, via email, once you are accepted and enrolled in the program.
