Defining and Balancing Stakeholder Expectations to Achieve Excellence in External Clinical Legal Education Opportunities
Managing and coordinating the interests of multiple stakeholders is a key challenge for externships and clinical programs. Multiple stakeholders include law schools, organizations, students, clients, communities, clinicians, regulators and potentially others. Using the clinical programs developed by Melbourne Law School and WEstjustice, and Georgia State University College of Law and its external clinic host agencies as case studies, this session explores models for collaborative programs, design choices, benefits and challenges. Our goal is to identify the essential structures for creating an excellent learning opportunity for students while still meeting the expectations of all stakeholders.
