Exploring student attitudes to on-line learning

The University of South Australia and Adelaide University clinical programs have recently implemented an innovative approach to reflective writing.  Rather than the traditional journal, we also use blogging for students to engage with each other in analysing their placement experiences. We believe peer review and the immediacy of this communication creates an engaging and motivating learning environment.  Our research seeks to test this assumption, and also investigate concerns about online reflective writing that include privacy, honesty, trust and authenticity. We will outline our research of student attitudes towards blogging and journaling and also discuss how blogging technology may be a valuable clinical tool for student learning.
