Koori Heritage Trust

The Koorie Heritage Trust is a 30 year old Aboriginal owned and managed not‐for‐profit organisation that supports, promotes and celebrates the living culture of the Indigenous peoples of south-east Australia.

Their Cultural Education programs include guided walking tours of the Birrarung Marr (River of Mists / Yarra River) and other sites of cultural significance at Federation Square and within the Melbourne CBD for schools and organisations, and the general public.

The Koori Heritage Trust also runs one-day and half-day training sessions. Building Aboriginal Cultural Competency and Building Cultural Safety in the Workplace workshops and training programs are offered within the framework of professional and personal development for all sectors. Throughout the year, they also offer Aboriginal Cultural Competency workshops for individuals and small groups.

Kangan Institue Indigenous Education Centre (Last Updated in 2016)

The Kangan Institute's Indigenous Education Centre (IEC) delivers Indigenous Cultural Competence Training to individuals bi-monthly Courses are of either 7 hours or 30 hours duration.  The purpose of the training program is to provide attendees with an introduction to Indigenous culture so there is an improved understanding of Indigenous clients.

The 30-hour course is an accredited Indigenous History Unit and upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Attainment

Kangan Institute's ICAT program is designed to provide participants with a practical understanding required for successfully working with the Victorian Indigenous Community. It also builds awareness of indigenous issues and aims to eradicate apprehension or misconception about indigenous people.The program is tailored to not only provide a historical perspective but to also provide learning which can be applied in everyday situations.

The IEC being an Indigenous Academic Unit has tremendously skilled Indigenous staff members who have both university qualifications and strong links to the Indigenous culture and community in metropolitan and regional areas of Victoria and abroad. KI Indigenous education staff are highly qualified with not only discipline specific vocational areas but with inherent cultural understanding.

In regards to individuals and small groups we do offer sessions that cater for them. This will be an ongoing offer every 2 months and it is a half-day training that is usually 9.30 till 12.00 and costs $205 per participant.
