Description of Organisation

The PLN is a network students and professionals working to promote social and environmental justice through the law. The PLN engages members and the community through our annual conference and regular, thought provoking seminars and workshops.

The PLN promotes careers opportunities through internships and volunteering, and now through the Public Interest Law Careers Guide.

Number of legal positions within organisation

All positions are voluntary. The PLN consists of a committee of at least 6 students, and have a host of volunteers involved in organizing regular events, the annual conference and in updating the Public Interest Careers Guide as required.

Information for volunteers

What are you looking for in a volunteer?

Volunteers must display a keen interest in either social justice or the environment, or both! Much of what the PLN does requires delegated tasks to be completed by volunteers and then be communicated back to the group. So volunteers must be organized and committed, but all we ask of our volunteers is enthusiasm and the ability to contribute; specific time requirements can be flexible and dependent on the events running. Volunteers might like to arrange their own projects or help out with small tasks, or take on a large project such as the conference.

Qualifications/skills required

No prior experience is required. The PLN will provide volunteers with a wealth of knowledge regarding event management, marketing, networking and careers. What we require of our volunteers is great communication skills, motivation, commitment, reliability and wealth of ideas.

Contact person for volunteers

Email the club email to chat to one of the committee members about getting further involved, or message our Facebook page (‘Progressive Law Network’).
