Disability

Are you an excellent listener with great communication skills? Consider working for an organisation that represents people with a disability. People with a disability often face discrimination in the workplace, at school and university and in the criminal justice system, and they may experience hostility from other members in their community. For a person with a disability it may be more difficult to access legal information or information regarding rights, or to find appropriate mechanisms to access basic services or lodge complaints.

There are a number of Community Legal Centres that specialise in disability services along with the Disability Services Commissioner, an independent statutory body assisting with complaints. Also, if you are a student and interested in criminal law, please see the entry for the Office of the Public Advocate.
