Description of Organisation
Transgender Victoria (TGV) was founded in the late 1990s to achieve justice, equity and quality health and community service provision for transgender people, their partners, families and friends. TGV regularly supports the work of service providers who want to ensure they are transgender aware, as well as seek ways to provide direct services to the trans community, whether in partnership with others or independently.
TGV also works with and for the transgender community to create positive change in the area of human rights and policy development. We represent the transgender community in challenging discrimination and assist in the empowerment of trans* people so that they may lead full and meaningful lives.

What sort of volunteer opportunities are available?
Enthusiastic, self starting. Most of the volunteering doesn’t actually occur in the office, it’s through email – so personal motivation is integral to get things done.
Qualifications/skills required
Not necessarily formal. Just have an interest in trans issues. Great writing skills – may be required to write a submission.
What prior work/volunteer work is viewed favourably?
Past legal work/research skills, social justice work.
How many volunteers do you take a year?
Varies – but approximately 6.
