The Victorian Government has offered $5 million in a proposed settlement to public housing residents who were locked in their homes as part of a public health order in July 2020. A class action was launched by residents in nine public housing tours who say they were detained in their homes for up-to 14 days and threatened if they attempted to leave.
As residents consider the offer, some say all they want is for the Government to apologise.
Associate Professor Maria O'Sullivan, Deputy Director, Castan Centre for Human Rights Law, was interviewed on ABC PM in this radio report, along with Daniel Andrews, Premier of Victoria.
