Recent New Corporate/Commercial Law Subject- 5473 INTERNATIONAL MERGERS & ACQUISTIONS

Recently a new unit, LAW 5473 INTERNATIONAL MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS, which was introduced as part of the CLARS suite of subjects dealing with corporate/commercial law.

Tim is a Member of CLARS and was previously an M&A partner in a major Australian law firm. The new subject included a number of distinguished guest speakers, one of whom is the Chancellor of Monash University! The guest speakers are:

- Bruce Dyer (M&A lawyer and former General Counsel, Australian Takeovers Panel)

- Waldo Jones, Partner, Sullivan & Cromwell

- John Keeves (Partner, Johnson Winter & Slattery and former member, Australian Takeovers Panel)

- Rebecca Maslen-Stannage (Senior Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills and member of the Australian Takeovers Panel)

- Simon McKeon, Chancellor of Monash University and inaugural President of the Australian Takeovers Panel, Simon McKeon

- Caroline Rae (Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills, London)

- Professor Bob Thompson, Georgetown University (Washington DC)

- Jason van Grieken Partner, Arnold Bloch Leibler

- Professor Umakanth Varottil, National University of Singapore

This is just one of several new corporate/commercial law subjects at Monash Law School. Others include a new unit in Commercial Equity, taught by The Hon. Geoffrey Nettle AC QC and a forthcoming unit in 2023 on Financial Services Regulation, which will be taught by The Hon. Justice Ashley Black of the NSW Supreme Court.
