New Unit, Commercial Equity, to be Taught by The Hon Geoffrey Nettle AC QC
CLARS is delighted to announce the introduction of an exciting new unit, Commercial Equity (LAW5445).
Commercial Equity explores the evolution of certain core equitable doctrines most relevant to commercial practice from their early recognition up to recent decisions of the High Court of Australia.
The unit will be taught by the Hon Geoffrey Nettle AC QC, former Justice of the High Court of Australia, together with Mr Angus Willoughby, member of the Victorian Bar, and Dr Nick Sinanis, Lecturer at the Monash Law Faculty.
The unit will commence on Wednesday the 7th of September 2022 and will run for 12 consecutive weeks. It will consist of 1 x 2-hour seminars every Wednesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Monash Law Chambers in the Melbourne CBD.
About The Hon Geoffrey Nettle AC QC

Geoffrey Arthur Akeroyd Nettle was appointed to the Court in February 2015. At the time of his appointment, he was a judge of the Victorian Court of Appeal, to which he was appointed in June 2004. Before that, he served as a judge of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, to which he had been appointed in July 2002.
He graduated in economics from the Australian National University, in law from the University of Melbourne and as a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. He was admitted to practice in 1977 and joined the Victorian Bar in 1982. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1992. He practised in state and federal courts principally in commercial, equity, taxation and constitutional matters.
