Study Essentials is an online program consisting of self-paced lessons and micro-skill sessions held over zoom, to help you develop your skills and be as prepared as possible to get the most out of your time here at Monash.
If you are new to Monash, returning to study, or simply want to improve your skills, this program will will set you off in the right direction.
This program is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from all levels and faculties.
About the program
Study Essentials provides you with the academic skills that are key to your success in your course: academic writing, critical thinking, and academic integrity, as well as important skillsets such as time management, balancing commitments, teamwork skills, and project management. All of these will help you manage your assessments.
The program includes self-paced lessons you can access and complete at your own pace in your own time, covering skills in the following areas:
- Get a head start: adapt to study, manage your time, balance your commitments and keep improving in your study
- Think, write, succeed: learn to manage your assessments, improve your academic writing and your presentation and teamwork skills
Graduate micro-skill sessions
The program also includes a suite of small-group sessions which are held online over Zoom. They are 25 minutes long each, highly interactive, and are designed to help you immediately apply skills to your individual learning context. The micro-skills covered include time and project management, communication and critical thinking skills.
