Nature of professional development programs
Participants in professional development programs offered at Monash do not receive any formal Monash University award or accreditation upon completion. Some courses may offer the option of obtaining a micro-credential (see the micro-credential section below).
Fees and payment
Full payment is required to secure a place, attend, or access learning materials for all professional development programs managed by the Monash Centre for Professional Development and Monash Online Education (MCPD&MOE).
Detailed information on all professional development programs and their fees can be found on Find a course.
Payment for professional development programs can be made by credit card, PayPal, invoice, or cost centre and fund transfers. Cost centre and fund transfers are only available for Monash University internal fund transfers.
|Credit card or PayPal||Pay by credit card through the course registration portal on the course webpage|
|Invoice (individual)||Pay by invoice through the course registration portal on the course webpage|
|Invoice (group)||Email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a group invoice for multiple participants from the same organisation|
|Internal transfer (cost centre and fund)||Complete the internal fund transfer request form, then await an email from email@example.com|

Applications for programs with selective registration will be assessed before registration. If your application is successful, you will receive an email to your nominated email address with instructions detailing the registration process.
Evidence of concession eligibility
Sufficient evidence of concession eligibility must be provided on request in the form of valid student ID for student discounts or Monash staff ID for staff discounts.
Program cancellation or postponement
A full refund will be issued if the program is cancelled by Monash University. If Monash University postpones a program for any reason, a full refund (100%) will be offered if you do not choose to remain enrolled in the program on the revised date/s.

**Program deferral: Transfer of registration to the next scheduled offering of a course, subject to availability. Please note that an administration fee of $100 will apply to a transfer of registration, and you will also be required to pay any increase in course fees between the two iterations of the course. These fees will be paid upon registration into the next offering.
***Program fee credit retention: Credit towards the course fee paid can be used towards another Monash University professional development program within a two-year period following the date of the written application, subject to availability. This only applies to programs offered by Monash University alone. Please note that an administration fee of $200 will apply at the time that you transfer your registration, and you will also be required to pay any increase in course fees between the two professional development programs. These fees will be paid upon registration into the selected professional development program.
Receiving academic credit
Some courses may offer the option to obtain a credit towards a Monash University award course (such as a degree or graduate certificate), where the micro-credential (assessed) version of the professional development program is selected.
Successful completion of a micro-credential does not guarantee admission into an award course. Prospective students must meet the eligibility and admission requirements for the award course. A micro-credential can only be used as credit towards a single degree on one occasion.
If a student has already obtained the maximum credit available to an award course through other means, they will not be granted extra credit as a result of completing this short course.
Minimum engagement of 80% across the program content, discussion forums, synchronous and asynchronous sessions is required to complete the micro-credential (assessed) version of the program.
Transferring from the micro-credential to the short course version
Written applications (via email to email@example.com) to withdraw from the micro-credential (assessed) version of a program and transfer to the short course (non-assessed) version will be accepted up to six business days prior to course commencement.
Cost of assessment is non-refundable if withdrawal occurs:
- 5 business days or less prior to course commencement (for all programs), or
- once the course has commenced.
Transferring from the short course to the micro-credential version
Written applications (via email to firstname.lastname@example.org) to withdraw from the short course (non-assessed) version of a program and transfer to the micro-credential (assessed) version will be accepted up until the due date for the first program assessment. Participants will be required to pay the difference in fees between the two course versions.
Participants who do not register in or transfer to the micro-credential version by the date specified will be required to repeat the program if they later choose to take the micro-credential version.
Any collection of your personal information during your application and course is governed by Monash University’s Privacy Policies.
