Kaye Sullivan - Director, Excellence and Engagement
Kaye Sullivan is responsible for strategic planning that maximises use of evidence and analytics, for effective communication with all stakeholders and for building the Library’s capability in these areas. Her role has oversight of the Library’s relationships with the University’s partners and is responsible, either directly or through the University’s centralised services, for the effective and efficient operations of facilities management, administration, finance, governance and human resources. Ms Sullivan is responsible for engagement with Monash alumni and the wider community in partnership with External Relations, Development and Alumni. In addition, the position has oversight of the Sir Louis Matheson Library and Special Collections.
Ms Sullivan has worked in academic and hospital libraries for over 20 years in Queensland and Victoria. At The University of Queensland, she developed deep health librarianship expertise, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice and expert searching, in roles at tertiary teaching hospitals, the School of Dentistry and the Rural Clinical School in Toowoomba. In 2011, she moved to Melbourne to take up the role of Subject Librarian with the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Ms Sullivan was the Library’s Manager, Strategy and Planning prior to becoming the Director, Excellence and Engagement.
Ms Sullivan is a current member of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). She is a founding member of the Council of Australian University Librarians/Council of New Zealand Librarians Value and Impact Community of Practice. From 2013-2015, she was a Tutor at the Australian Evidence Based Librarians’ Institute.
Published articles and presentations reflect her active involvement in quality assurance and risk assessment in higher education libraries, systematic reviews of the literature, expert searching by health librarians and maximising learner benefits of the innovative use of technology. In 2011, Ms Sullivan won the ALIA Health Libraries Australia Anne Harrison Award to conduct research on ‘The state of play of expert searching in Australian health librarianship’.
- Leadership of the Library's strategic planning and communications including building culture and capability in these areas
- Leadership in partnership with the University’s centralised services of the business operations of facilities management, administration, finance, governance, human resources and professional development to ensure effective and efficient outcomes
- Oversight of the Library’s relationships with the University’s partners, including overseas campuses and centres, hospitals and schools
- Oversight and development of the Sir Louis Matheson Library and Special Collections
