Professor Robert McGauran
Rob is a founding member of the multi-disciplinary design practice of McGauran Giannini Soon (MGS), which views the architect as advocate and enabler for both design and future place and the role of research in practice.
MGS has focused on issues including research-based design practice, sustainable urban development models, new mixed-use urban models, design for social inclusion, designing for a smaller environmental footprint, change management in cities and the role of design in creating liveable cities.
In 2001, Rob was awarded the RAIA Research Prize. Rob is also a highly accomplished and recognised urban planner, having been a member of the Priority Development Panel for the Minister of Planning, and acting on planning and ministerial advisory committees including Planning Panels Victoria.
Rob was awarded a Life Fellowship to the RAIA in 1999 for contributions to the Profession.
