Dr Alysia Bennett is an architectural researcher and lecturer at Monash University.

Alysia’s research focuses on how the design, construction and occupation of the built environment is influenced by planning regulation, law, economics, culture and society. Specifically, her work aims to understand and engage with the spatial implications of such influences in order to identify opportunities for architectural operation and innovation. Her doctoral thesis Stealth Urbanism focused on overcoming barriers to the densification and diversification of suburban housing via the manipulation of physical and systemic grey spaces in legal loopholes, ambiguous language and human perception.

Over the past decade, Bennett has undertaken a range of architectural research and consulting roles within the public and private sectors, including the University of Tasmania, BVN and the Office of the State Architect in Tasmania. In addition to lecturing at Monash, she is currently associated with Cumulus Studio and Parlour's WikiD Australia initiative.
