The operational hours for the workshop are - Monday – Friday: 9am – 12am (Midnight) During peak times of the semester, the workshop will be open on - Monday – Sunday: 9am – 12am (Midnight).
Students will receive notification making them aware when this is the case.
If you cannot enter the workshop with your swipe card (M-Pass), ensure you have done the General Access Quiz and received 100%.
Please expect a turnaround time between 3-5 days.
If you still do not have access and have followed the correct procedure, send an email to email@example.com with your full name, student/ staff ID and date of quiz completion.
Please note, in some instances if we have processed your access and you still cannot gain entry, you will need to get in touch with campus security to rectify any issues.
After completing the General Access Quiz, you can enter the workshop.
You are not permitted to use any of the machines until you have received the correct stickers displaying your level of training.
You can take the quiz(s) as many times as you need, to achieve 100%.
Workshop stickers are distributed after practical demonstrations.
For returning students and staff : if you have attended the practical demonstration(s) in a previous year, you need to complete the General Access Quiz and collect your sticker(s).
All students are responsible for their own access to the workshop. If your friend does not have access, point them in the right direction to obtain access.
Please keep in mind, you are risking suspension from the facilities by not following correct procedure.
If you do not follow the General Workshop Rules you will be issued with a warning. If the misconduct continues, access to the workshop could be temporarily suspended.
Your student details ( Full Name and ID number ) will be collected and retained by staff if you receive a warning.
Yes, students and staff are required to display their ID’s with correct equipment stickers affixed at all times.
Yes, technical staff may ask to see your ID when you are within the D-Fab Workshop.
To keep you safe, the D-Fab workshop requires all those using the workshop to be wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. As the workshop is a medium risk area, fully enclosed footwear must be worn at all times.
To prevent damage to equipment, food and drink are prohibited within the workshop. Water bottles or sealed coffee cups are allowed.
