MADA Talks: Andrea Pinochet + Espen Vatn
Join us for a free public talk by Norway-based architects Andrea Pinochet and Espen Vatn.
Andrea Pinochet pursued her architecture degree at the Cooper Union, in New York, and has a Master in Structural and Construction Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Barcelona, where she specialized in material technology and construction processes. In the past Andrea has worked in architecture offices in New York, Barcelona, Paris and Oslo. She an active collaborator of The Cooper Union Institute for Sustainable Design in New York and is an Assistant Professor at the Form Theory and History Department of the Oslo School of Architecture.
Espen Vatn is principal at Studio Vatn. Working within the discipline of architecture Studio Vatn aims to develop precise and structurally articulated projects, exploring the relationship between landscape, program and building technology. The office has recently realized two film production studios, and is currently developing a viewing platform in the north of Norway. Through his work, Espen Vatn conducts research on early 20th century architecture, investigating spaces of production, social concerns, and questions of authorship. These projects have resulted in speculative models, publications, and exhibitions, such In Hannes Meyers Pocket's, presented at Venice Biennale 2014. Espen Vatn is currently Assistant Professor at Oslo School of Architecture, where he has been teaching since 2011. In the spring of 2016, he was Visiting Professor at Universidad de Navarra, Spain, teaching a Fourth year studio. Prior to establishing his practice in 2012, Espen Vatn studied architecture at The Cooper Union.
