MADA Artforum: Sylvian Couzinet-Jacques
Join us for a talk by MADA artist-in-residence Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques (France). Couzinet-Jacques will present a performative lecture incorporating an introduction to his practice, together with a 20-minute screening of a recent video work with the artist performing the sound live using a Eurorack synth.
Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques was born in 1983, he is a graduate of the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Marseille (2010) and the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles (2012). His work has been featured at Le BAL in Paris, the Fotofestival in Mannheim curated by Urs Stahel and La Galerie Particulière in both Paris and Brussels. Couzinet-Jacques was awarded a fellowship at the Centre Photographique d’Ile-de-France, Paris, in 2015 and has been in residency at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris from 2014 to 2016. In 2015, he was the first Laureate to receive the Immersion commission offered by the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès in alliance with the Aperture Foundation (New York, USA). His artwork is part of numerous public and private collections such as the Fond National d’art contemporain (French national collection), JP Morgan Art collection, The International Center for Photography of New York as few others. His first book, Eden, made in collaboration with Fred Cave, was published by Aperture in November 2016. Couzinet-Jacques is artist in residence at MADA as the inaugural recipient of the French Residency in Australia, supported by the Embassy of France in Australia in partnership with MUMA.
