Student Night - Powerful Parklets: How micro developments can assist Bushfire and COVID19 recovery
Participants are encouraged to think creatively to design a small-scale innovative solution for a selected area
This student led event was developed by planning students from Monash University and the University of Tasmania.
In the wake of the 2019-20 bushfires and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our need to engage with place is at an all-time high. The severe effects on Australia’s tourism and consumption economy are being felt nationwide, with critical aspects being discussed during the event.
During this student-led event, participants are encouraged to think creatively to design a small-scale innovative solution for a selected area in an Australian city or region. The winner will receive $250 in shopping vouchers and there is $100 for the runner-up. These “powerful parklets” or micro developments are some of the simplest ways to begin the transition to sustainable and liveable spaces and ultimately making places better.
