MTalks: Designing a female future
Join us for an all-female panel MTalk as part of the MPavilion program for 2020.
While the world has been flipped on its head, three women have been thinking about re-building an improved, post-pandemic future—one in which gender no longer negatively affects women’s experience of the built environment, where sustainable design thinking is built into all designers’ practices, and where we value designers as artists.
This all-female panel hosted by design writer Sandra Tan features Nicole Kalms (co-head of XYX Lab at Monash), Sally Dan-Cuthbert (Australia’s only gallerist representing furniture designers), and Sarah K (a consultant and advocate for embedding sustainability in design thinking). Together, they bring their broad range of experience to the table, discussing real change for a cleaner, safer and more inclusive world.
The speakers will also explore the potential in the discarded, amplifying others’ voices, investigating gendered design, and moving towards a new future where design heals, holds and assists all bodies.
The event is part of Fringe Furniture’s Gender Equality in Design initiative, supported by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation and presented in partnership with Melbourne Fringe Festival.
