This exhibition presents architecture and urban planning students’ scenarios for the historical gold mining suburb of Golden Square.

Drawings and models of diverse and novel infill housing types connect landscapes that retain water in this dry, disrupted environment and repair the patchwork of ex-mining sites. Proposals for corridors and multi-use zones thicken and enliven the neighbourhood centre. Analytical drawings and models explore the regional water context at the scale of the Murray Darling Basin.

Presented by Monash University Department of Architecture.
Part of Melbourne Design Week 2019, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
