Design Thinking Masterclass for Secondary School Design and Technology teachers

In partnership with DATTA, Monash University’s Faculty of Art Design and Architecture is offering 10 Secondary School Design and Technology teachers the opportunity to have an exclusive Masterclass in Design Thinking.

This is a free 2 day Masterclass. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. If your school is registered for Design and Technology Week 2018 you are eligible to enter.

Venue: Monash University, Caulfield Campus, 900 Dandenong Road, Caulfield
Dates: Friday 29 & Saturday 30 March 2019

Participants will be selected based upon their entries. The selection panel includes representatives from Monash University’s Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture and DATTA. The decision of the judges is final. Successful applicants will be notified by email by Friday 16 November 2018.

Please note you must be able to attend on these days. Accommodation and travel costs are not included. Places are not transferrable.

Delivered by Dr. Gene Bawden, Deputy Head, Department of Design, Monash University, this masterclass covers the essentials in design-thinking with practical examples of how this can be applied in the classroom and taught to students. It will cover:

  • Discovery process, that embraces an understanding of empathy and people-centredness,
  • Prototyping process, where ideas are generated collaboratively, and
  • Demonstration and testing process where ideas are put to work.

As well as teaching into the Monash Design degrees, Dr. Bawden is responsible for the writing and delivery of the Design Thinking units in the new Monash MBA, and the Global Executive MBA.
