Bimanual-Coordination Drawing (BCD) and Rhythm as Composition

The exhibition focuses on drawings, especially in the form of calligraphy, but includes video footage of bimanual drawing performance in order to contextualise the artefacts within the conceptual and performative dimensions of the practice. This support material is important, since BCD (Bimanual Coordination Drawing) as an isolated art form may fail to engage an audience with no appreciation of the process of bimanual drawing (or its antecedents), which is a key dimension of the principle itself. To this end, I have produced an edited video of how the bimanual drawing proceeds as a process, and how the various drawn patterns emerge from specifiable memorised manipulations of the two hands.
