Almost Everything All At Once, Twice, Three Times (In Four Part(s) II...)
The work in this exhibition tests the proposition of ‘The artist’s practice as always already-made’. It investigates modes of appropriation in relation to my studio practice including the accumulation of materials and the process of remaking as a way of generating new work. This approach falls into two categories: appropriation as accumulation and appropriation as remaking. Appropriation as accumulation, points to the activity of gathering materials that resource my ongoing practice. Appropriation as remaking draws on my back catalogue of past works to generate an unfolding sequence of new playlists. This in turn re-interprets my previous work, projects it into the present and activates the potential for its future re-use.
