Building Resilient Train Interiors

Metropolitan trains represent a significant taxpayer investment and are expected to last thirty years or more.

Shifts in the economy or demographics can happen much faster. Indeed, within every day the train carriage is expected to move a variety of commuters between empty to full to over-capacity.  Future passenger train travel in the urban and suburban environment can expect to be more nimble in dealing with fitness for purpose, maintenance regimes and service longevity after research carried out by PhD candidate Lisa Fu and the MDL. This project is sponsored by Metro Trains Australia.
