The Victorian Pride Centre

Celebrating, bolstering and protecting equality, diversity and inclusion.

It is not enough to provide a building, to get a good architect or great site or catchy logo. It is about the shared purpose and messages that run through the spaces or the systems of the communication and space that will make a great pride community.

The Victorian Pride Centre is open!

The Victoria Pride Centre is a unique initiative that celebrates, bolsters and protects equality, diversity and inclusion. It is set to forge a new chapter in the narrative of Australian Pride by bringing the various legions of the city’s LGBTIQ community together in a single and powerful space.

The physical presence of the Victorian Pride Centre provides an opportunity to celebrate the currency of Victoria’s diverse social composition - paving new directions for its future and honouring its brave and at times difficult past.

Monash Art, Design and Architecture’s XYX Lab was involved in the initial consultation and design phase of the Centre, consulting with the Board, Tenants and Stakeholders in that early phase and facilitating a Design Thinking workshop at our Caulfield campus which has influenced the way the project and the physical space has emerged.

Speaking at the centre’s opening in July 2021, VPC Chair Hang Vo said “Today is an important milestone for our community. As Australia’s first purpose-built pride centre, this is where everyone can come together, honour the past, celebrate the present, and work towards a more inclusive future.

“We are open, welcoming to everyone, with a culture founded on diversity, inclusiveness and belonging. We are so thrilled to be the new home to a broad community of organisations, groups, vital services and social spaces,”

Monash ADA and XYX Lab is proud to have been involved in this milestone project.
