Rail passenger boarding, alighting and dispersal experiments
Investigating how rail carriage interior design influences passenger boarding and alighting times using agent-based modelling techniques.
The Mobility Design Lab is increasingly using agent-based modelling, in which sophisticated algorithms determine the simulated animation of human figures, to determine the efficacy of infrastructure design in the rail industry.Selby Coxon
The purpose to determine door and seating configurations for their new rolling stock designs in Perth WA. Agent based modelling and animation was created to replicate the conditions that might be expected for trains running in the Perth network at peak times of the day. Comparisons were made between different numbers and dimensions of doors and seating configurations to determine a final design.
