Digital Bridges Network: Exploring Aging

Exploring aging through video and virtual reality.

“Both Australia and South Korea are facing the challenge of an aging population. Using video and virtual reality, we aim to present some of the commonalities and differences of the aging experience in both countries, and identify ways this understanding might help us prepare for the future.” – Dr Cameron Rose

The Digital Bridges Network (DBN) links filmmakers and media artists in Australia and South Korea to explore social and community issues relevant to both countries. The first production, a 360 VR documentary on ageing, was released in early 2019. “Halfway to Where?” by Cameron Rose is an intimate portrait of his family as they consider what is important as we age.

Later in 2019, South Korean filmmaker Changmin Lee will be producing 360 VR ageing documentaries from a Korean perspective. These documentaries, along with more Australian content, will be exhibited at the Korea National Arts University in Seoul in June 2019 and in Melbourne in July 2019.
