Federation Square East - mixed use: Media Gallery, commercial and social housing.
The studio will explore design processes for generating architectural form and space which shall look at graphic and filmic techniques / history of urban morphologies which may inform the final architectural experience.
PROJECT: FEDERATION EAST:
The students will be designing a mixed use building with Media Gallery including exhibition spaces, workshops, administration, gallery shops, café/restaurant, including video art projection spaces, a public plaza and a social housing component which sits at the City fringe.
The students shall develop a sound understanding of different spatial and graphic techniques designers adopt and how these may communicate ideas and concepts through architectural design. These studies shall be fostered and developed by each student after conducting site and brief investigations in order to establish a particular design process. The studio shall work through class discussions, lectures, and exercises adopting different medium which shall include: Research, Mapping exercises, and various 3 d model making exercises (Rhino and Rendering skills required here). All activities shall be work towards a final professional folio documenting the work in a thorough manner (including writings, reflections, diagrams, drawings, renders etc) and a final presentation layout which will explore various graphic techniques adopted by architects and designers in addition to a developed verbal and written design statement.
