Between Architecture and Philosophy
What can philosophy really offer to the practice of architecture? What can it help architecture to think and do? This is the aim of the studio: to reflect on the role that theory plays in the practice of architecture.
The material for this reflection will be drawn from significant thinkers in twentieth century European theory.
To develop a familiarity with key twentieth century thinkers influential in architecture; to examine what theory can and should bring to architectural practice.
Participants will submit three 300 500 word written texts that engage with one of the short texts read over the previous weeks (30% in total). One of these pieces will be developed into a 2000 word reflective essay (50%). There will also be a short in-class presentation (20%)
