Queer Extent is a spatial toolkit offered in collaboration with the Safe School Coalition Australia program. The Safe School Coalition program is a national network of organisation working with schools to create a safer and more inclusive environment for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students. Based on the concept of queer theory at societal level, Queer Extent, aims to work with schools for site specific configuration of spatial boundaries that begins to explore how an individual’s performance is not independent but instead dependent on the society. It is an active imminent domain, transforms what the dominant culture has abandoned in these spaces so that the old and new are in explicit juxtaposition. Around these juxtaposing structures, a vast community network evolves which is often overlooked as being a queer space.
