Celia Dent

My practice encompasses a nostalgic fascination with cinema and voyeurism, constantly dissecting the cinematic gaze and questioning desires, pleasure and the subconscious. Created primarily with found imagery, my work explores movement and texture through juxtaposing texts to produce visually seductive imagery that borderlines the uncanny. My piece ‘Peepshow’ combines’ the imagery of MGM spectacles, a Godard romantic drama and sleazy 50s’ peepshow loops, to create a display of synchronous visuals that arouse questions of spectatorship.
