Peter Lusis

Peter's work as a green energy engineer on community-scale solar energy projects with Renewable World and United Nations Development Programme brought him across four continents. After arriving in Australia, he was fascinated to learn how Monash University is demonstrating leadership in the sustainable energy movement by committing to net zero emissions. This fact encouraged him to undertake a PhD in energy systems planning at the Faculty of Information Technology.

His research is focused on bringing even more renewables into the electricity network, and he is using Monash's Net Zero Initiative Microgrid project as a case study. He also believes that we need strong policies to complement science in order to fast-track transition to clean energy. Thus, he hopes that COP24 represents an opportunity to reinvigorate global climate policy, with a strong focus on countries where policy development has been hampered.
