Dietmar Dommenget

Dietmar is an Associate Professor in the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment in the Faculty of Science and a chief investigator of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Climate Extremes. His research focusses on large-scale climate variability and change. He works mostly with climate models and thinks about how to improve and understand them. One of this main research themes is in climate modelling El Nino and how it works. He has published many studies related to understanding natural climate variability and man-made climate change. Dietmar also leads a public education program with the interactive Monash Simple Climate Model(MSCM). The MSCM in freely available interactive climate model that allows students learn about climate, climate models and climate change. Dietmar has also been active in media communications mostly within the German region
