Clinical Trials

The Haematology CRU within the Department of Clinical Haematology at Alfred Health was established as an independent business unit of the Health Service in 2009. It is presently one of the largest haematology-specific clinical research entities in Australia routinely managing >250 patients on trial at any one time.

The CRU undertakes both industry sponsored and a large range of investigator-initiated trials (IIT) of novel therapeutics with a particular emphasis on early phase trials in the areas of multiple myeloma and acute myeloid leukaemia. The CRU has a purpose built fully compliant first-in-human facility and for a number of years has acted as the co-ordinating centre for IIT and Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma (ALLG) multi-centre trials.
