The START trial is aimed at reducing antibiotic-resistant infections in aged-care facilities. It is the largest trial to be run in residential aged care facilities in Australia, will investigate the levels of antibiotic resistant bacteria present, and how best practice antibiotic use can assist to control the rise of superbugs in these care facilities.
This is a study about the optimal treatment and management of uncomplicated acute cystitis, also known as a lower urinary tract infection (UTI). Antibiotic resistance is a global problem and the current treatment and management of UTIs may not be optimal given the current rates of resistance.
