Our Research Focus
Our research investigates a range of brain stimulation techniques and pharmacological therapies for the treatment of mental health and cognitive disorders. Through neuroscience research we aim to expand our understanding of the brain and guide early diagnosis, improve existing treatments and development novel treatment options.
Why is brain stimulation research beneficial?
There is a growing need for alternative treatment options for mental health and cognitive disorders. Many people experience illnesses that do not have effective, or effective enough treatments. Brain stimulation can be used to increase or decrease brain activity, over time leading to changes in mood, behaviour, and thinking. By investigating the effects of brain stimulation on the brain, we can understand how the brain changes in mental health and cognitive disorders, and how best to design and target new treatments.
