Gambling and Social Determinants Unit
In May 2019 we focused on MARC members in the Gambling and Social Determinants Unit.
The Gambling and Social Determinants Unit is focused on developing effective interventions and policy for the harms associated with gambling, and with other noncommunicable diseases. Using a ‘social determinants’ approach they examine the upstream causes of harm and seek to develop policy and other responses to prevent illness and harms such as gambling, obesity, poor mental health and climate change.
Recently A/Prof Charles Livingstone (Head of Unit) and Dr Angela Rintoul presented the first-ever seminar on gambling at the World Health Organisation HQ in Geneva.
