3D4M Program

Eastern Health Clinical School (EHCS) runs and intergrated program for medical students from Monash University completing their MBBS and medical students from Deakin University completing their BMBS.

The 3D4M program has students participating in Children's Health, Women's Health and Medicine of the Mind/Mental Health rotations. Working in conjunction with Eastern Health Services this program covers structured learning activities which incorporate teaching clinics, tutorials and case based learning in a professional setting.

Children's Health

Box Hill Hospital and Angliss Hospital are the main Children's Health teaching sites at EHCS. Students are rostered to shadow consultants, RMO's, SCN's and nurses which allows them to gain valuable insight into all aspects of Children's Health.

Students at both Box Hill and Angliss Hospitals are also given weekly bedside tutorials and focus group sessions, specialty tutorials and clinical skills sessions.

Women's Health

Box Hill Hospital and Angliss Hospital are the main Women's Health teaching sites at EHCS. By offering the chance to participate in all area's of Women's Health from Gynae and Antenatal clinics to Maternity wards pre and post labour, EHCS hope that we have provided students with knowledge skills to care for Women when they present to emergency department, general practice or are patients on the medical and surgical wards.

Students at both Box Hill and Angliss Hospitals are also given weekly bedside tutorials and focus group sessions, specialty tutorials and clinical skills sessions.

Medicine of the Mind/Mental Health

The Medicine of the Mind/Mental Health program at EHCS is spread across all of Eastern Health. Students are placed in the following settings and are expected to work closely with the teams they are attached to:

  • Acute Adult Inpatients
  • Psychiatry of Old Age
  • CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service)
  • Consultation Liasion Psychiatry
  • Continuing Care Teams
  • Rehabilitation Services
  • Crisis Assessment and Treatment Teams
  • Primary Mental Health Early Intervention Team (PMHEIT)
  • Drug and Alcohol Services
