The MIHCE in collaboration with the Department of General Practice is pleased to present the John Murtagh Annual Update Course for general practitioners.
The course is in its 40th year and is a regular feature of the postgraduate professional development calendar. The topics and presenters for this year’s program have been carefully selected and are based on both your recommendations and feedback from previous years’ Update Courses.

The JM Update Course has been approved for category 2 points for the RACGP as follows:
Activity ID: 100761. This activity has been allocated 30 Category 2 points in the QI&CPD Program for the 2017-19 triennium.
In addition, the JM Update Course has been approved for PDP points for ACRRM as follows:
Activity ID: 10105. This activity has been allocated 17 Core PDP points in the ACRRM PDP Program for the 2017-19 triennium.
John Murtagh AM
John Murtagh is Emeritus Professor of General Practice, School of Primary and Allied Health Care, Monash University; Professorial Fellow in the Department of General Practice, University of Melbourne and Visiting Professor, University of Peking, Beijing. He is the author of several publications including Murtagh’s General Practice, General Practice Companion Handbook, Patient Education, Practice Tips, Cautionary Tales, Murtagh’s Diagnostic Strategies, Murtagh’s Flash Cards (App), Back pain and spinal manipulation (co-author).
In 1995 he was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for services to medical education, research and publishing. He continues to give keynote lectures, author books and consult private patients.
